Type 2 diabetes was once called non-insulin-dependent diabetes. This type of diabetes makes it hard for your body to use the insulin it makes. That means it can't easily turn blood sugar (also called blood glucose) into energy. As a result, your blood sugar can get too high. To keep your blood sugar under control, you need to take the following steps:
Test Your Blood Sugar You will most likely need to test your blood sugar each day. This tells you whether your blood sugar is within your target range.
Follow Your Meal Plan Following your meal plan helps control the amount of sugar in your blood. It also helps you control your weight. Excess weight keeps your body from using its own insulin.
