Raynaud disease
(ra-noŽ)
a condition in which spasm of the blood vessels causes symmetrical symptoms of the Raynaud phenomenon on both sides of the body, sometimes with local gangrene If left untreated, it may progress to ulceration and contractures. The cause is unknown; attacks are precipitated by cold
or emotional upset and relieved by warmth. It occurs almost exclusively in young women, especially those who are experiencing
tension and emotional pressure.
