F waves rapid sawtooth-edged atrial waves without isoelectric intervals between them, seen in the electrocardiogram in atrial flutter. Written also f waves. Called also flutter waves. compound muscle action potentials with a smaller amplitude and a longer latency than the corresponding M waves; caused by antidromic activation of the motor neuron. f waves (def. 1).
